Boeing builds last passenger plane in former industry hotspot

Commercial airplane production in Southern California will come to an end next month when the last 717 is delivered to AirTran Airways.

It is now parked at Long Beach Airport for testing. The names of the 800 workers who built it have been scrawled on the inside skin of its fuselage and covered by metal paneling.
